Abstract
This study focuses on the architectural adaptation of an early 20th-century building located in the historic city center of Sofia. It emphasizes the relationship between the original structural systems, functional logic, spatial proportions, architectural details, and their long-term resilience. Through spatial analysis, the study leads to an adaptation that is appropriately contextual. The new interior environment is formed by the existing structure, while layers of historical imitation are selectively removed. This approach allows for the creation of a contemporary space that is rooted in architectural authenticity.
