Abstract

<jats:p>This article examines the formation and dissemination of enlightenment ideas against the backdrop of socio-political and cultural processes occurring in the city of Yerevan in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It examines the role of Enlightenment intellectuals in the development of social thought, strengthening national awakening, and spreading education through the press. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of newspapers and magazines published in Yerevan in promoting enlightenment ideas. The article notes that these publications combated illiteracy, instilled national self-awareness, secular education, and an interest in science. The article also touches on the difficulties faced by Azerbaijanis in Yerevan in their educational endeavors. Overall, the study demonstrates that the press in Yerevan was a powerful public means of disseminating enlightenment ideas.</jats:p>
