Abstract

<jats:p>The article examines the development of critical thinking, working with sources and critical analysis skills in students during the teaching of history in higher education institutions. It analyzes how these skills are formed on the basis of modern pedagogical approaches and methodological tools and their impact on the quality of teaching. The article presents both theoretical foundations and practical teaching examples. The goal is to strengthen students' objective and multidisciplinary approach to historical events and their independent decision-making abilities in source analysis. The article shows that the application of these methods in Azerbaijani history lessons contributes to both students' academic success and the formation of their national and cultural identity.</jats:p>
