Abstract
The relationship between Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi and Shams Tabrizi, when examined from Sufi and literary perspectives, reveals a distinctive spiritual structure. This article provides a hermeneutic interpretation of this relationship through the categories of “murid” and “murad.” Within the framework of the hermeneutic approach, the figure of Shams is considered not merely as a historical personality, but also as a phenomenon of meaning; furthermore, a multilayered system of meanings related to love, fana, and symbolism in Rumi’s works is identified.
