Abstract
This report evaluates future-ready pathways to expand the country’s organ transplant ecosystem. It outlines India’s progress in bioprinting for regenerative corneal therapy and preclinical drug-testing models, and highlights advances in enzyme-mediated blood-type conversion and gene-edited hypoimmunogenic organs as options to reduce immune rejection—all while emphasising the cultural, ethical, and affordability challenges that continue to mar xenotransplantation despite the scientific advances.
