Reading in Portuguese: Érico Veríssimo's Novel “O Senhor Embaixador”

<jats:p>This textbook is based on the work “O Senhor Embaixador” (“Mr. Ambassador”) by the famous 20th-century Brazilian writer Érico Veríssimo. The novel depicts diplomatic service and the political and economic realities of Latin America and the United States in the 1960s. The textbook includes questions and tasks for each chapter of the novel, vocabulary and grammar exercises aimed at developing speaking and writing skills, as well as the analysis of a fi ctional text in a foreign language; it fosters students’ motivation to read literature in Portuguese. For students at levels B1–B2 who are studying Portuguese.</jats:p>
