Abstract
The article "Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) Development of Highly Viscous Oils: Challenges and Prospects" examines the use of steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) to extract highly viscous oils. The article describes the principle of SAGD, which involves injecting steam into horizontal wells to reduce oil viscosity and facilitate gravity drainage. It emphasizes the effectiveness of SAGD for developing reservoirs inaccessible to traditional methods, at depths of up to 600 meters and more. It also analyzes the existing technical and economic challenges associated with SAGD and identifies prospects for further development of this technology.
