Abstract
Language is the foundation of culture. The purpose of culture is to express oneself to others and achieve recognition. Indigenous written works are closely linked to the language and culture of an ethnic group. Writing is a tool of language but a cultural asset. Dozens of ethnic groups, whose historical roots date back centuries, have generated a cultural system of "language-thought-writing." This process demonstrates the spiritual creativity of these peoples. The main goal of this study is to demonstrate that the ancient Turks were the catalyst for indigenous culture, the founders of runic writing, an integral part of ancient Turkic culture. This study also aims to determine the enormous influence of ancient Turkic culture and writing on the subcultures of Eurasia. It also aims to determine the place of ancient Turkic culture and writing in global written culture. Drawing on the history of writing, this study aims to identify the internal and external characteristics of ancient Turkic writing, delve into the stages of the formation of written symbols, and define the archetype of written signs. In this article, we consider the analysis of the signs of the ancient Turkic script from the semiotic side based on the external features of the writing signs and analyze the connection between the sign and its meaning based on the internal features of the writing from the semantic side, proving the autochthonous origin of the ancient Turkic runic script.
