Abstract

In a major new study of music, this book establishes a nuanced model of sustainability that re-imagines the relationship between music, place and capital in the rural creative economy. Based on detailed ethnographic research across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, the author rethinks the importance of place-based innovation and people’s desire to participate in the arts to our understanding of economic, social and cultural sustainability in the rural creative economy.
