Abstract
<jats:p>The role of Authentic Texts in Teaching Idiomatic Expressions in English in Senior Courses of Higher Schools Summary The article discusses the teaching of idiomatic expressions of the English language through authentic (original) texts. The teaching of idiomatic expressions of the English language through authentic texts (situations) in the learning process provides students with a detailed perception of not only the meanings of idioms, but also the phenomena within the situation, their correct use. Authentic texts, which will be used during the teaching of the English language, clearly embody the lifestyle, social behavior and individual character of language carriers, while original texts rich in idioms are an interesting source of information for students, they are very important for the formation of expressive and figurative speech skills and development of their skills.
