Abstract
<jats:p>Science plays a key role in ensuring sustainable economic development and national security of the state. In modern conditions, knowledge and innovation are the main drivers of economic growth, contributing to technological progress and strengthening the strategic sustainability of the state. Therefore, research focusing on this area is relevant and urgent. The purpose of this article is to reveal the role of science in ensuring sustainable economic development and national security, to achieve which we have set the following objectives, in particular. to analyze the research of various authors and briefly present their position on the effectiveness of science through a literature review, to analyze the dynamics of research and development (R&D) expenditures in the Republic of Armenia in recent years, explore the number of people working in the field and their publications in international peer-reviewed journals, to identify the relationship of the scientific and technological potential of the Republic of Armenia with various aspects of national security, etc. The analysis shows that science plays an increasingly important role in ensuring sustainable economic development and national security in Armenia. Despite the limited resources, the country is demonstrating positive dynamics in a number of indicators of scientific and technological development. The development of the information technology sector is an exemplary case study in the field of economic development, as it has been shown to have a significant impact on the growth of the economy and the strengthening of a nation's position in international markets. However, there are also serious problems, including insufficient funding of science, aging of scientific personnel, weak links between science and industry, which the article suggests to overcome and further develop the country's scientific and technological potential.</jats:p>
