Abstract
<jats:p>Abstract: The development of tourism sector in Azerbaijan has been identified as one of the main directions of state policy. In recent years, considerable work has been done in Azerbaijan to improve tourism infrastructure, hold international events in this field and promote tourism potential. In addition, increasing in the number of tourists visiting country has led to increasing risks in this field. Illness, accident, trip cancellation, loss of cargo and other unforeseen circumstances further increase the need for tourism insurance. It is in this context that the study of the current situation of tourism insurance in the country, the identification of its main development directions and its improvement based on world experience are of essential scientific and practical significance. The main goal of the article is to analyze the development characteristics of tourism insurance in Azerbaijan, identify prevailing problems and identify important directions of development of this field. Taking into account these issues, it should be emphasized that determining the main development directions of insurance activities in the tourism sector is considered one of the most relevant issues in our modern period.</jats:p>
