Abstract
In this paper, we investigated how liver diseases in dogs affect key hematological and biochemical parameters. For this pur-pose, we analyzed blood samples collected from 10 dogs with various liver conditions. Based on the results obtained, re-garding the hematological examination, we observed leukocytosis with neutrophilia (in most cases), lymphopenia or lym-phocytosis (depending on the cause), while eosinophils and basophils remained unchanged. For red blood cell parameters, we observed the onset of anemia (both hemolytic and deficiency-related), as well as relative polycythemia (induced by dehy-dration). Regarding the biochemical examination, we observed that ALP and ALT levels increased in all studied cases, AMY remained unchanged, TBIL increased in 4 out of the 10 studied cases (hepatic jaundice), BUN and CRE had non-specific changes, GLU showed both increasing and decreasing trends, TP decreased (hypoproteinemia with hypoalbuminemia), while the electrolytes PHOS, CA, NA, and K remained unchanged in 9 out of the 10 studied cases.
