Abstract
<jats:p>The 11th Important Shark and Ray Areas (ISRA) regional expert workshop was held in hybrid mode (in person and online) in Playa del Carmen, Mexico from 2–6 March 2026. The goal was to identify and delineate three-dimensional and discrete portions of habitat that are critical to the survival of sharks, rays, and chimaeras (hereafter ‘sharks’), and that have the potential to be managed for conservation. The region covered was the North American Pacific. This scientific collaboration amongst regional and global experts resulted in the identification of 68 Important Shark and Ray Areas and 12 Areas of Interest. Identified ISRAs range in size from small areas of 2.27 km2 at depths of 0–30 m (Campo Kennedy-Arbolitos ISRA in Mexico) to large areas of 2,543,834 km2 (Northeast Pacific Corridor ISRA which spans waters of the United States of America, Mexico, and areas beyond national jurisdiction) from 0–1,277 m.</jats:p>
