Abstract

The author of this article examines one of the most problematic issues in modern military operations—the use of tanks. Presenting the history and development of tanks, he carefully analyzes the problems of using tank units in the 44-Day War and in Ukraine. So many Armenian tank losses occurred during the war when Azerbaijan attacked Armenian air defense systems in the first hours of the war, thereby achieving air superiority. Meanwhile, one of the weaknesses of Russian tanks in Ukraine is that they require infantry protection from enemy anti-tank missiles, especially in urban areas. This allowed Ukrainian forces to engage Russian tanks with anti-tank groups and achieve success. The author argues that future tanks will be smaller, lighter, and more mobile, and will have hybrid or electric engines.
