Abstract
This book, “A Vision-Based Intelligent Waste Segregation System for Sustainable Urban Environments,” brings together contemporary research and technological advancements in the field of intelligent waste management. With the rapid growth of urban populations and increasing environmental challenges, efficient waste segregation has become a critical requirement for sustainable development. Recent progress in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and smart systems has enabled the development of automated and intelligent waste segregation solutions. This edited volume aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of these emerging technologies and their applications in real-world urban scenarios. The chapters included in this book cover a wide spectrum of topics, including energy-efficient AI models, multimodal intelligent systems, computer vision techniques, robotic sorting mechanisms, explainable AI, and smart city integration. Each chapter has been contributed by researchers and academicians with expertise in their respective domains. The book is structured to provide both foundational knowledge and advanced insights, making it useful for researchers, postgraduate students, and professionals working in artificial intelligence, computer vision, environmental engineering, and smart city development. As editors, we have made every effort to ensure clarity, coherence, and relevance across all chapters. However, given the diversity of contributions, any inadvertent errors or inconsistencies may still exist, and we welcome constructive feedback for future improvements. We hope that this book will serve as a valuable resource and inspire further research and innovation toward sustainable and intelligent waste management systems.
