Abstract

This book reveals how urban Christian spatial productions take shape in Germany and the USA, and how City Pastoral and Urban Ministry reflect the religious interpretation of urban spaces. The intercultural comparison offers new insights into the dynamics of secularization, pluralization, and church transformation. By combining objective hermeneutical analysis with spatial sociology, the study provides an innovative toolkit for exploring urban religious practice. It addresses scholars in religious studies, sociology, and theology. The author works at the Social Science Institute of the Protestant Church in Germany.
