Abstract

The water-sensitive conversion of cities into sponge cities and growing demands on wastewater treatment are key challenges for wastewater disposal. The book examines how the law contributes to overcoming these challenges and focuses on financing issues. It not only outlines the key legal obligations, including the Municipal Wastewater Directive 2024 (KARL). It also shows what legal scope for action exists and how it can be used to develop innovative instruments. The work provides concrete proposals for the efficient further development of municipal wastewater infrastructure.
