Abstract

The volume contains contributions from a lecture series organised by the editors at the University of Innsbruck in the winter semester of 2024/25 and the summer semester of 2025 to mark the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe. They demonstrate the thematic breadth of the multilateral agreements concluded within the framework of this international organisation. These range from the European Convention on Human Rights as the most prominent example, to the protection of women against violence (Istanbul Convention), to state decentralisation in the form of local self-government (Charter of Local Self-Government). The overall view provides an insight into the diversity and significance of the Council of Europe. This title is also available as Open Access.
