Abstract

In the light of the declining number of cases brought before civil courts and the growing importance of private dispute resolution platforms, this book analyzes the potential of AI-supported decision-making systems to ease the workload of the courts. It sheds light on the causes of the decline and discusses legislative reform approaches. While a successful reform could increase the number of cases, it could also place an additional burden on judicial resources. In order to counter this potential overload, the work identifies AI tools as a key technology and analyzes the associated technical and constitutional challenges.
