<p>This publication focuses on the areas of tension, dynamics and future prospects of civil society engagement and voluntary services. The authors view engagement both as a response to social crises and structural pressure and as an active, transformative force. The contributions offer theoretical reflections, empirical analysis and methodological discussion. The focus is on examining engagement in the context of social inequality, biographies, learning and education, engagement trajectories, rural areas, young people, social challenges, voluntary services and the discussion about a year of social service. The book will also be available in open access upon publication.</p>
