Schächten als rechtspluralistische Herausforderung zwischen jüdischem, deutschem und europäischem Recht

<p>Freedom of religion, animal welfare, and the state legal order are often in tension with one another. This dissertation examines this conflict from an interdisciplinary perspective. It focuses on the religious significance of ritual slaughter in Judaism, the relevant German and European case law, as well as the halachic principle of “Dina de Malchuta Dina.” Drawing on legal, religious law, and empirical analyses, the thesis critically examines existing positions and develops new approaches to resolving the conflict. In doing so, the study makes an important contribution to the debate on legal pluralism, the rights of religious minorities, and the balancing of fundamental rights with societal values.</p>
