Abstract
<p>Underage professional footballers are not a rarity in the German professional leagues. They train with their adult teammates, take part in competitions and are offered contracts. The latter also applies to players at youth academies, who are being tied to their clubs at an increasingly early age due to the fierce competition for young talents. With the growing professionalization of youth development, football clubs are overlooking the requirements of the Youth Employment Protection Act. The thesis analyzes the violations based on the results of various surveys in the men's, women's and junior sectors and presents balanced proposals for the further development of the status quo.</p>
