Abstract

[Joy in the Four Gospels. Philosophical and Spiritual Reflections] To open up the joy of the richness of spiritual reading – that is the explicit aim of the studies presented here. Horst Folkers traces the unique character of the four Gospels of Mark, Luke, Matthew and John with a theologically and philosophically in-depth interpretation. He shows how we always encounter the One Gospel of Jesus Christ anew in four unmistakable characters. In each of the four passages, he devotes himself to their image of Christ, the composition, the God-man relationship and the hermeneutics, framed by an introductory essay and an essay that opens up the individual reading. Thanks to their sensitive language, the thorough reflections, which delve into the finest details, make the inner message of the Gospels accessible, even to lay readers, in a new and often surprising way.
