Abstract

This paper investigates the ground surface settlement induced by the construction of an underground pedestrian crossing using a pipe-roof structure beneath the railway line of the Moscow Central Diameter No. 1 near 29 Dmitrovskoye Highway. An analysis of soil settlement and the influencing factors at various construction stages was performed based on monitoring data. It was determined that the settlement was caused by insufficient soil compaction and the preservation of its structural properties, deviations from the planned sequence of construction operations, and the absence of void filling between the pipes and the surrounding soil. The study highlights the importance of comprehensive monitoring and preventive measures, including soil reinforcement and the use of stabilizing materials. The obtained results help identify the primary strategies for minimizing settlement and ensuring structural safety during construction in complex engineering-geological conditions. The recommendations provided can be applied to the design of similar structures.
