Abstract

<jats:p>The article is dedicated to the iconography of the Gospel of Haghpat, an exceptional masterpiece of Armenian medieval manuscript art. The aim of the study is to present the garments of secular figures and to explore their possible connection with contemporary clothing styles. The topic is relevant, as the renewed interpretation of costumes can play a significant role in achieving a more comprehensive understanding of the culture of Ani during the rule of the Zakaryan dynasty. The main objective of the research is to compare, through iconographic analysis of the miniatures, the structure and ornamentation of the depicted garments and to reveal their national characteristics. Conclusion: The secular attire illustrated in the Gospel is depicted in a realistic manner and vividly reflects the spirit of the fashion of its time. This study may serve as a valuable guide both for researchers of Armenian medieval miniature painting and for scholars specializing in the study of traditional Armenian costumes.</jats:p>
