Abstract
<jats:p>ճամբար, կամար, սենեակ, etc.- Armenian words ճամբար, կամար, սենեակ, etc are not etymologized or are considered to be borrowings. The article, dwelling upon phonetic, morphemic and semantic analyses, puts forward new etymologies for them as native Armenian words derived from the Indo-European root *(s)k(h.)eu- "to bend, to curve; to smooth". They are: ճամբար «camp» <ճամբ-ար <*sk՛ham-bh- <*kh.e-m- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, ճամբայ (ճամփայ) «road, way» <ճամբ-այ <*sk՛ham-bh- <*kh.e-m- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, ճամբրուկ (ճամպրուկ) «bag made of hair; suitcase» <ճամբր-ուկ <*ճամբ-ար- <*sk՛ham-bh- <*kh.e-m- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, շավիղ «path, way» <շաւ-իղ <*skhau- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, կամար «arch, vault; belt» <կամ-ար <*ska-m- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, կամուրջ «bridge» <կամ-ուր-ջ <*skha-m- <*(s)kh.eu-, սենեակ «chamber, room; cabinet» <սեն-եակ <*(s)k՛en- <*ske-m- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, խրճիթ «hut, poor cottage; cabin» <*խրճ-իթ <*խուրճ- <*(s)khōr-gwy- <*skō-r- <*(s)k(h.)eu-, etc.</jats:p>
