Abstract

From the very beginning of his academic journey, Academician Levon Hakhverdyan made significant contributions to various fields of art history, theater studies, and literary criticism through the harmonious integration of diverse disciplines. His achievements are particularly notable in the field of Tumanyan studies. The 1960s marked a new stage in the development of literary science, when a new generation of Armenian scholars managed to overcome, to some extent, the Soviet ideological stereotypes. In this context, the research of Ed. Jrbashyan and L. Hakhverdyan were a particularly significant contribution to Tumanyan studies. The previous z analysis of the writer's works gave way to a serious scientific discourse. Rough sociological approaches, which had dominated literary criticism for over thirty years, were also abandoned. It was precisely in the 1960s that Tumanyan studies became a consistent area of activity and scholarly interest for Hakhverdyan. The relationship between theater and literature, as well as theater studies and literary studies, represents a natural unity in his legacy, shaped both by the personality of the scholar and his understanding of art studies.
