Abstract

Purpose: to assess empirically how global warming affects tourism infrastructure performance and to identify the channels through which climate risk is transmitted into market outcomes. Design/method/approach: comparative statistical analysis, structural assessment and a multiple linear regression model based on 2024 data for 26 European countries. Findings: a higher share of international nights and stronger hotel occupancy support growth, while a larger non-hotel accommodation share weakens growth performance. Evidence from the hospitality literature also shows that sustainable technologies reduce water and energy pressure and improve service continuity. The study demonstrates that adaptation should be treated not as an isolated technical response but as an integrated component of planning, resource management and destination-level coordination.
