Abstract

The article substantiates the expediency of analysing competitiveness not only at the enterprise level but also at the service level as the direct market manifestation of the carrier’s advantages. It is proved that such an approach is especially relevant for railway transport enterprises, since the service itself acts as the carrier of consumer value through which the client evaluates timeliness, reliability, safety, accessibility, convenience of obtaining the service, the level of information support, and the ability of transportation to be integrated into the customer’s logistics chain. Scientific approaches to interpreting the competitiveness of transport services are generalized, and the content of the category “competitiveness of railway transport enterprise services” is clarified. It is proposed to define it as a relative and dynamic characteristic of the service’s ability to provide higher consumer value compared with alternative transport solutions in terms of quality, reliability, speed, accessibility, safety, information transparency, service coordination, and tariff acceptability. It is established that the sectoral specificity of railway service competitiveness is determined by infrastructure dependence, high capital intensity, technological complexity, regulatory conditionality, increased safety requirements, and the growing role of digital services. The paper systematizes the factors shaping the competitiveness of railway transport enterprise services by functional content and identifies consumer-service, organizational-technological, economic, digital, and adaptive-market blocks. It is proved that service competitiveness is formed as an integrated result of the interaction of internal and external conditions, while its improvement requires the coordination of transportation quality, service model, digital customer interaction tools, and the enterprise’s ability to respond to market changes. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in forming a theoretical basis for the further development of methodological tools for assessing and managing the competitiveness of railway transport enterprise services in the digital economy.
