<jats:p>The article examines the contribution of Prof. Dimitar Balarew to the deveopment of inorganic and analytical chemistry, with an emphasis on his research on phosphoric acids, the role of moisture in solid-state reactions, and the theory of the disperse structure of real crystals. Both biographical and scientific data are presented, as well as the connection between his ideas and modern concepts of mesocrystals.</jats:p>
