Abstract
The best preserved example of a religious building with a hall, pediment and colonnade rising on all four sides of a quadrangular plan is the pagan temple of Garni. The article attempts to clarify and substantiate the similarities of their compositional prototypes and local origin through a comparative analysis of the volumetric-spatial solutions of the temples of Garni and Musasir. Methods and materials: We have used historical-comparative methods, as well as methods of analyzing primary sources. Analysis: Volumetric-spatial and artistic-decorative studies of the temples of Garni and Musasir were conducted. Results: As a result of the comparative analysis, the study substantiates that the prototypes of the compositional forms of the temples of Garni and Musasir found in the Armenian Highlands have a local origin and are inherited from the natural-philosophical ideas of our ancestors.
