Abstract

Our planetary system, called the Solar System, consists of the Sun and eight planets, a few dwarf planets, hundreds of moons, and a vast number of asteroids and comets. It is located in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way, orbiting around its dynamical center Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), with an orbital period greater than one hundred million years. The Sun, together with the gravitationally bound celestial objects orbiting it, has always been an object of great interest for researchers. The scope of this book covers research regarding our Solar System. Through the chapters, the latest advances are given on the following topics: orbits of the Solar System bodies, Solar System dynamics, laws of gravity, planetary distances, planetary atmospheres, and interstellar medium. Planets, Moons, and Beyond: Unveiling the Mysteries of the Solar System is written for a wide audience, including those whose who wish to obtain knowledge in the field of astrophysics, particularly concerning the definition, observations, and theories about our Solar System.
