Abstract

<jats:p>The current phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the resulting politico-military and informational realities necessitate a comprehensive examination of the issue.The purpose of the article is to analyze Azerbaijan’s informational policy in the periodfollowing the 44-day war up to the forced displacement of the Armenian population ofArtsakh in 2023, using documentary film production. We observe the video content as amedia tool in the context of an information war, identifying its uses in deepening andperpetuating Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian policy.To achieve the research objective, we have set the following goals: to analyze thecontent emphases of documentary films produced under the initiative of Azerbaijan’sstate structures in the post-war period and disseminated in local and internationalinformational domains, examining their structural, ideological, and interpretative features,as well as identifying the methodological approaches used to present the depictedrealities and the strategies of informational influence.Special attention is given to documentary film as a powerful medium for shapingpublic consciousness, constructing collective memory, and reflecting broaderinformational strategies. In today’s world, warfare occurs not only on the battlefield butalso within the media sphere, where diverse communication strategies and tools ofinformation manipulation are employed to shape public perception and serve politicalends.The research is conducted using analytical, critical and comparative methods.The main conclusion of the research is that, following the 44-day war Azerbaijan’sinformation policy has been strategically oriented toward promoting its narrative ofachievement and position, with documentary film production serving as a key propagandainstrument - frequently marked by one-sided assessments and elements ofdisinformation.</jats:p>
