Abstract
<jats:p>This study aims to analyze the existence of the Adat Belang tradition as the civic culture of the Banda Naira community. Local cultural expressions that grow within a community reflect the distinctive values of the region and become the collective identity of an ethnic group or community. The existence of Adat Belang is not only about tradition, but also about efforts to preserve national identity through the preservation of culture that is deeply rooted in the lives of the local community. The type of research is qualitative research, with the research location being community and religious leaders. The data collection techniques are observation and documentation. The data is analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The results of the research show that the Belang Custom is not just a boat race or a means of transportation, but a very sacred sociological instrument for the people of Banda Naira. This tradition internalizes civic values such as mutual cooperation (gotong royong), social solidarity, moral responsibility, and harmonious teamwork, which form the foundation of the local community's character. The sustainability of the Belang tradition is highly dependent on the active role of the local community, including traditional leaders, religious leaders, and youth. Through collective involvement in the ritual procession, from the construction to the launching of the boat into the sea, the community has succeeded in preserving their collective memory and maritime identity amid the challenges of modernization and globalization. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis eksistensi tradisi adat belang sebagai civic culture masyarakat Banda Naira. Ekspresi budaya lokal yang tumbuh di tengah masyarakat mencerminkan nilai-nilai khas daerah dan menjadi identitas kolektif suatu etnis atau komunitas. eksistensi Adat Belang, tidak hanya membicarakan tentang sebuah tradisi, melainkan juga tentang upaya menjaga jati diri bangsa melalui pelestarian budaya yang berakar kuat dalam kehidupan masyarakat lokal. Tipe penelitian adalah penelitian kualitatif, lokasi penelitian Subjek dalam penelitian adalah tokoh masyarakat dan tokoh agama. Teknik pengumpulan data adalah observasi dan dokumentasi. data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian bahwa Tradisi Adat Belang bukan sekadar perlombaan perahu atau sarana transportasi, melainkan instrumen sosiologis yang sangat sakral bagi masyarakat Banda Naira. Tradisi ini menginternalisasi nilai-nilai kewargaan seperti gotong royong (maren), solidaritas sosial, tanggung jawab moral, dan kerja sama tim yang harmonis, yang menjadi fondasi karakter masyarakat setempat. Keberlanjutan tradisi Belang sangat bergantung pada peran aktif masyarakat lokal, termasuk tokoh adat, tokoh agama, dan pemuda. Melalui keterlibatan kolektif dalam prosesi ritual, mulai dari pembuatan hingga penurunan perahu ke laut, masyarakat berhasil menjaga ingatan kolektif dan identitas maritim mereka di tengah tantangan modernisasi dan globalisas </jats:p>
