Abstract

The present study examines complex sentences with subordinate clauses expressing time relations introduced by the relative adverb while. What distinguishes this type of sentence is that it describes events whose course is interrelated, maintaining temporal alignment. The focus of the study is on the possible temporal combinations of verb predicates in the main and subordinate clauses that satisfy the requirement of temporal alignment within the past, as well as their potential variations. The aim is to draw conclusions about the additional aspects of substituting the imperfect with the aorist in this context.
