Abstract

<jats:p>The article is devoted to the derivation of dialectal verbs denoting the thermal pre-paration of food. Its aim is to present the relevant models of perfectivisation and se-condary imperfectivisation. The analysis primarily employs a linguistic approach, with material drawn from the forthcoming Bulgarian Dialectal Culinary Dictionary. The theoretical framework is based on both the traditional understanding of aspect and aspect formation, as well as more recent developments in contemporary Slavic rese-arch. Examples illustrate why and how prefixes become grammaticalised.</jats:p>
