Abstract
<jats:p>Abstract The English Spectrum: Language, Literature and Communication is an undergraduate English course book designed to integrate literary appreciation, language development and practical communication skills. The book brings together selected prose, poetry, grammar and composition units to help learners read critically, write effectively and communicate with clarity. It includes prose selections such as Ruskin Bond’s *Kishan Singh*, C. E. M. Joad’s *The Civilization of Today*, Anton Chekhov’s *The Bet* and R. K. Narayan’s *All Avoidable Talk*, along with poems such as W. B. Yeats’ *The Ballad of Father Gilligan*, Robert Frost’s *Birches*, Rudyard Kipling’s *If* and A. K. Ramanujan’s *Ecology*. The book also includes practical writing components such as C.V. writing, book reviews, film reviews and research methodology. Each unit supports learners through pre-reading activities, author introductions, lesson explanations, vocabulary development, comprehension questions and writing tasks.
