Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Chemical Research around 1950” by Carsten Reinhardt (German language)</jats:p> <jats:p>Carsten Reinhardt examines the introduction of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy into chemical research around 1950. Using Herbert S. Gutowsky as his central example, he shows how a physical instrument became useful to chemistry through chemical physics, chemical shift, spin-spin coupling, and structural interpretation. NMR did not reduce chemistry to physics; instead, it produced a unity within diversity.</jats:p>
