In it Haber describes his blocked career, financial dissatisfaction, institutional dependence, and antisemitic obstacles as a “baptized Jew.” The essay situates this self-interpretation within Haber’s later rise in Karlsruhe and distinguishes among antisemitism, disciplinary rivalry, and the scarcity of full professorships.
