Performance Of A 1.5tr Window Air Conditioner-R438a As an Alternative Refrigerant

<jats:p>Even though the refrigerant R22 is better in performance, it is categorized under hydro chlorofluorocarbon which has more ODP and GWP and responsible for the ozone layer depletion and global warming. So, the refrigerant (HCFCs) is likely and is to be phased out by the year 2020, so there is a need to go for alternative refrigerants. The other alternative refrigerants may be R410A, R404, R417A and R438A, may be used. R438A (zero ODP) is used as working fluid in 1.5TR Window Air Conditioner. Tests are carried out at 350C ambient temperature and the performance is analyzed. The COP of R438A obtained is nearly same as that of R22.</jats:p>
