Abstract

<jats:p>Sport is not only about health, but also about entertainment, recreation, teamwork, sustainable motivation, harmonisation of the mental, physical and intellectual state of the individual. The article highlights the importance of sport in modern society, its impact on the physical and mental health of people. The stages of aerobics evolution from its inception (Ancient Greece) to the present are considered. Attention is drawn to the history of the development of the components (types) of cheerleading aerobics (motivational shouts with steps, dance moves, tricks, etc.) and skipping or rope skipping (jumping rope). The author analyses the transformation of aerobics under the influence of scientific research, social change and technological progress. Cheerleading and skipping are interconnected with aerobics, as they have similar features in the context of sports: steps and jumps, rhythm, dancing, muscle development, mass participation. The history of aerobics development shows that the improvement of various types of aerobics has been further developed as a result of the introduction of new methods, forms and means of training. It has been found that aerobics is a specially designed complex of general developmental physical exercises that combines breathing exercises with body movements and is performed to music. The classification of aerobics types is presented: health aerobics, sports aerobics, fitness aerobics, applied aerobics. It is noted that various variations of aerobics originate from classical aerobics, improving and expanding the content, direction, etc. Particular attention is paid to modern types of aerobics, such as Zumba, step aerobics, Pilates, aqua aerobics and others, their classification and disclosure of their specific features. The article provides a thorough understanding of the trends in the development of aerobics and its role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and sports culture.</jats:p>
