Abstract
Dignity has been recognized as a relevant component of healthcare systems' response, although its role in evaluating hospital performance is still underexplored. This study proposes to broaden the understanding of dignity, positioning it as a central dimension of organizational evaluation in hospitals. The objective was to assess organizational dignity based on healthcare professionals' perceptions of institutional practices focused on dignity. To this end, the EPRA-DO scale was adapted to the hospital context (EPRA-DOH). Data were collected through an electronic survey with 127 professionals working in 16 Portuguese public hospitals. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were performed to examine the psychometric properties of the instrument. The results supported a structure of 21 items distributed across three factors, demonstrating construct validity and factorial stability. The results indicate that organizational dignity can be measured in hospitals, contributing to management, quality of care, and workforce well-being.
