Abstract
<jats:p>This study examines the educational potential of two AI tools, ChatGPT and DeepSeek, by highlighting how structured prompt engineering frameworks can enhance their effectiveness in EFL instruction.The study first offers a comparative review of the linguistic precision, fluency, pedagogical usability and adaptability to classroom needs of these systems and underlines their individual advantages and drawbacks in facilitating classroom activities.Then, significant prompt engineering frameworks are reviewed in the study by signifying how structured, purposeful prompt design can optimize AI interactions, foster learner autonomy, and support critical engagement with AI-generated content.Using these frameworks, the study also demonstrates how ChatGPT and DeepSeek may be utilized in the classroom for lesson planning, assessment and feedback, personalized learning, student engagement, automated grading, study material generation, and support for learners with special educational needs.</jats:p>
