Abstract

The field of education is changing by the presence of artificial intelligence since the focus is changing into individualized, data-driven, and morally oriented learning systems. With the automation of administrative functions, the creation of learning materials, assessment of the student and adaptive feedback through the application of AI technology, the role of an educator is experiencing a fundamental change. Teachers are no longer expected to be content deliverers but are being more and more placed in the role of learning architects, expected to design learning experiences that are meaningful and student-centred. Meanwhile, the development of AI brings a new and urgent problem of bias, transparency, fairness, academic integrity and proper use, which makes the educator an ethical guide more than ever. This chapter investigates how AI changes the professional identity of teachers interested in their new roles as mentors, facilitators of learning, curators of the content and decoders of knowledge driven by AI.
