Abstract
The main objective of this study is to validate a servant leadership scale for a Portuguese-speaking population. This study's sample consisted of 857 participants working in Portugal and all the other Portuguese-speaking countries, except for Timor. A quantitative methodology was used, using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, for which the sample was randomly divided into three groups. The exploratory factor analysis suggested that this instrument is unidimensional. A KMO of .81 was obtained. The two confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the factor structure of this instrument. The adjustment indices obtained were adequate. Both internal consistency and composite reliability showed values equal to or greater than .80. The factor model's invariance was also demonstrated. The results also indicate that whether one is a manager has a significant effect on perceptions of servant leadership. On the other hand, the country where the participant works has only a marginally significant effect on servant leadership.
