Abstract
This chapter examines the theoretical foundations and clinical applications of mindfulness- and acceptance-based approaches within contemporary psychosocial intervention frameworks. Core processes such as present-moment awareness, acceptance, cognitive defusion, self-as-context, values, and committed action are outlined to demonstrate how these mechanisms enhance psychological flexibility. Evidence supporting Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is reviewed, with emphasis on their relevance to emotional regulation, chronic illness management, and holistic nursing practice.
