Abstract
<jats:p>As the 21st century began, China's economic performance indicators have reshaped international equations and become a significant factor in altering China's position in many aspects of international political and economic relations, especially concerning the world's major economic powers, resources, and enhance its geopolitical and geo-economic standing. The South Asian region holds a unique strategic position within the frameworks of BRICS and China's Global Development Initiative (GDI). The Research Question of this paper is: Considering the new dimensions of inter-regional competition in Asia, how have China's approaches to South Asia contributed to strengthening mechanisms for stability and economic development? Our Hypothesis is: Given global developments and the emergence of new dimensions of regional and extra-regional competition in Asia, China's approach to regional issues and subsequent actions have fostered stability and economic development in South Asia.</jats:p>
