Abstract
<jats:p>The cardiorespiratory effects in mental illnesses have recently received much attention. However, the cardiovascular and respiratory effects in patients with bipolar disorder and the corresponding rehabilitation strategies have not been clearly demonstrated. This chapter aims to demonstrate exercise capacity, respiratory strength, pulmonary function, dyspnea, physical activity level and rehabilitation strategies in patient with bipolar disorder (BD). The patients had dyspnea, expiratory muscle weakness, small airway dysfunction, obesity, smoking, reduced exercise capacity and physical inactivity. Eight-week cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program were recommended to BD patient that consist of lifestyle modification training, expiratory muscle training, aerobic and resistance training.</jats:p>
