Abstract

<jats:p>Bio-resources and Traditional Knowledge associated therewith, have been used since ancient times for a wide range of purposes due to its high applicability across diverse sectors for fulfilment of human own needs and environmental conservation. This creates huge opportunities in the field of modern scientific research and scope for commercial gain. However, its exploitation has its own interlinked repercussions such as biodiversity loss, socio-economic implications and patent revocation. In an attempt to mitigate these repercussions, legal instruments have been explored mainly focusing on sharing of benefit framework under biodiversity laws of international and national regimes majorly focusing on Indian perspectives. It has been found that the legal intervention in access and use of bio-resources, bio-resources-based innovations supported with Intellectual Property Rights protection aid in accomplishing the majority of the total goals of Sustainable Development Goals.</jats:p>
